托福寫作題目預(yù)測(cè):

Do you agree or disagree? The effective leader tries to make others feel they have been part of a decision. (修改后的學(xué)生作文)【有效的領(lǐng)導(dǎo)會(huì)讓組員覺得自己是做決定的一部分】

托福寫作參考范文:

Originally, our initial expectation is that the leader, the core of any given group, should make the whole decision. However, certain people claim that it is unfair for the leader to make decisions completely. Everyone in the group should contribute their suggestions. As far as I know, apart from the leader it is not wise for other members to be part of a decision.

To start with, the efficiency of a decision will decrease when everyone in the group is determined to show their opinions. Despite the fact that it seems fair that everyone has the chances of displaying their opinions, agreeing on a decision that is persuaded by everyone is extremely arduous and painstaking. To substantiate, if one project ought to be determined by a sea of people whose opinions vary far from person to person, it will unlikely be agreed upon. Especially for large companies, they accommodate countless numbers of employees. Then determining a project will spend a huge amount of time. As a result, projects cannot be determined immediately. It takes plenty of time to make decisions. Therefore, the efficiency will suffer a lot from this approach.

Next, for someone who is not fond of making decisions, this situation seems an extra burden for them. Not everyone shows their interest in making a decision. For people who just like do what they like to do instead of becoming a leader, this decision will place much emphasis on them. Take myself as an example. Several of us once decided to establish a reading team. They thought that all of us should propose suggestions and lead others to read books. But for me, I just desired to listen to their opinions. I was not fond of leading them to read certain books in commercial fields because I was not adept in it. In spite of showing unwillingness, they insisted on the opinion. After I led them to read one book pertaining to principles of marketing, they thought what I said was inadequate, some even worse. Frustrated and upset, I did not lead them to read books anymore. Thus making a decision is not welcomed by everyone, especially those who do not like to lead others.

Last but not least, making a decision is not as easy as proposing suggestions. It means the leader should have varieties of abilities to handle the decision-making process well. Certain people have suitable characteristics such as managing others well, making correct plans, as well as seeking and dealing with problems immediately. For them, it is appropriate that they should become successful leaders. By contrast, people who lack abilities of making decisions are not adequate for the role of leaders. They usually perform with hesitation, confusion, and irritation when making decisions. When they become the leader, what they can display are only their disadvantages but not their strengths. Giving them the ability to decide for the group would not be a wise choice. So becoming a leader needs sufficient quantities of qualified characteristics of people.

To sum up, the situation wherein everyone attempts to become a part of a decision in a group is not worth adopting. Many disadvantages, such as the efficiency, the abilities, and the willingness restrict the success of making decisions. Therefore, it is better for leaders to manage the group and make decisions by themselves. (558)
