With the advances in technology, people’s lives have become more convenient and comfortable. However, not all things can be dealt with by current technology. There are a number of things that are at the moment still unsolvable by technology. In order to improve our lives, we should continue improving technology and solving problems.

First, traffic problems manifest the shortcomings of technology. Large quantities of cars make roads extremely crowded. Especially during rush hours, cars can barely go as fast as bicycles. It seems ridiculous, but it is true. We have improved our manufacturing technology but we cannot solve the dilemma of crowded roads. What we need to do is to make relevant plans to solve the traffic problems such as expanding certain roads, limiting the number of cars on roads, and adjusting the traffic lights. Without these technological improvements, the deteriorating traffic condition will be a tremendous disaster for people. Therefore, our current technology is not yet adequate for us.

Second, we do not have the ability yet to predict any calamity. Thousands of years have passed but we still lack the technology to solve such problems. Despite the fact that we can locate the spots accurately, it is only obtained after a certain calamity has happened. For example, scientists make efforts to predict earthquakes, but ninety percent of this prediction is inaccurate. What we are only able to do is to rescue injured people after these earthquakes occurred. In the future, we should discover a method of keeping track of the movements of the earth so that we can exactly know when an earthquake will happen before it really occurs. Therefore, we should care about improving the technology of prediction in order to save more people.

Third, technology does not always have decent influence on people. We should identify the drawbacks of technology and seek appropriate methods of solving them. Although it may improve our lives, its bad effect can also destroy our lives as well. For instance, nuclear technology has two sides. On the one hand, it can provide us with abundant energy source. On the other hand, it can be made into nuclear bombs which are able to ruin the whole world. Conflicts among countries will cause war. In order to exterminate other countries, the most effective way is to use nuclear bombs. Harmful and detrimental, nuclear technology has a bad influence on people. Thus, we should find ways of avoiding the harmful sides of such technology.

To sum up, the improvement of technology is not yet enough for people to be satisfied. Technology nowadays is still limited. We need to further improve it and find various ways of avoiding or limiting its negative aspects. Therefore, we should stress more significance on the development of future technology.(462)
