十個(gè)你不知道的雅思閱讀中的詞

1. As strikers downed tools and commuters battled to work, some 340,000 French teenagers wrestling with the question “Did we live in order to be happy?”

① Down tools 罷工，亦可作put down one’s tools；

② Battle 本意是戰(zhàn)役，這里指奮力開路去工作，表示因?yàn)榱T工導(dǎo)致交通癱瘓，commuters(通勤者即上下班的人)出行困難；

③ Wrestle本意是摔跤，這里wrestle with the question意為“遇到難題而左思右想。”

2. In fine tradition, he has booted the problem to his new prime minister, Manuel Valls, who has sounded tough, declaring that there is “no question” of shelving the reform.

④ Boot本意為靴子，做動(dòng)詞表示踢，這里boot the problem to 意為“把問題踢給…”
