這一集，我們來(lái)到了位于巴爾干半島東北部的羅馬尼亞。那里地形奇特多樣，平原、山地、丘陵各占三分之一；那里山河秀麗，藍(lán)色的多瑙河、雄奇的喀爾巴阡山和絢麗多姿的黑海是三大國(guó)寶，有“羅馬尼亞脊梁”之稱(chēng)的喀爾巴阡山綿亙?cè)?0%的國(guó)土上。

Romania's Maramures region may be modernising in places but take a walk in the countryside among forests, wooden churches and hay stooks and you'll feel like you've stepped back in time

Driving over the Gutai Pass into northern Romania's Mara valley the signs were good: a summit mysterious with cloud, an old woman selling honey by the road, and as we dropped out of the forest and back into sunlight, long panoramas of rolling countryside dotted with hay stooks leading off into the purple ridges of the Carpathians. People say that if you want old Europe, a place steeped in the rhythms of nature and skills lost elsewhere, then Romania's Maramures region is for you. Guidebooks talk of medieval isolation and ways of life unchanged since the third century AD. And then there was William Blacker's sublime 2009 book The Enchanted Way which cast a deeply romantic glow over the entire place. No wonder we were fired up with great expectations.

So when we began to see the villages, there was some consternation. Yes, there were a lot of traditional wooden houses with great square ornamental gateways and barns where homemade haymaking tools were leaning. But there were other buildings too: block-built houses with ugly balconies and UPVC windows. These did not fit. Nor did the old man in a Chelsea football shirt. Expectations are vital in the travel trade and ours were not being met, not yet at least.

描述一段旅程時(shí)，我們往往會(huì)更關(guān)注路線和景點(diǎn)，對(duì)沿途風(fēng)景卻很少涉及。其實(shí)“在路上”同樣可以為我們的表達(dá)增色不少。

這段話就是一個(gè)很好的例子：云霧繚繞山峰，路旁兜售土蜂蜜的老嫗，遮天蔽日的密林，密林外燦爛的陽(yáng)光，綿延起伏的鄉(xiāng)村，村莊里的草垛，村莊盡頭依稀可見(jiàn)的山脈……這一切在作者筆下都如同梵高的油畫(huà)，明麗而層次分明地映入腦海。

即便我們無(wú)法說(shuō)到如此完美——事實(shí)上我們根本毋須這樣做——至少可以借鑒這些風(fēng)景中某幾個(gè)元素。

If從句是十分基礎(chǔ)語(yǔ)法結(jié)構(gòu)，也容易上口，不過(guò)在考場(chǎng)上大家似乎不大清楚什么時(shí)候可以用到它。

其實(shí)當(dāng)咱們想表達(dá)“某地有某物”時(shí)，可以換一種思維方式和表達(dá)方式，反過(guò)來(lái)，說(shuō)成是“如果你想要某物，那么你可以去某地”。這樣一來(lái)，不但使簡(jiǎn)單句秒變復(fù)雜（這是加分項(xiàng)），還能通過(guò)"you"在一定程度上實(shí)現(xiàn)與考官的交流。

3. No wonder we were fired up with great expectations.

No wonder——中學(xué)英語(yǔ)大家再?gòu)?fù)習(xí)一下，而后趕快在考場(chǎng)上用起來(lái)。比如，TV話題，“每天看那么長(zhǎng)時(shí)間電視，難怪沒(méi)時(shí)間鍛煉身體 watching TV has taken up most of their time; no wonder they've little time doing any exercise”；

SNACKS 話題“孩子吃了那么多巧克力，難怪現(xiàn)在吃不下 The kid has had too many chocolates. No wonder he doesn't feel like eating now.”等。

相信大家曾經(jīng)看到過(guò)這樣的景象：好端端一個(gè)小村莊：農(nóng)田、茅屋、溝渠、木橋……質(zhì)樸的美，卻不知為什么被添加修建了很多違和的人工“景觀”，比如所謂“巴洛克”式的涼亭，甚至偽“x宮”。

這種怪現(xiàn)象也屬于某些城鎮(zhèn)的“變化”，因此，可以用在“changes of a certain place in recent years”，或是 tourism 可能帶來(lái)的負(fù)面影響等話題的回答中。那么具體怎么組織語(yǔ)言呢？

研究一下這段話，我們不難發(fā)現(xiàn)，作者吐槽的關(guān)鍵包括三點(diǎn)。第一，并舉美景與不和諧因素，以 but 聯(lián)結(jié)，實(shí)現(xiàn)鮮明對(duì)比；第二，在字里行間力求凸顯美景的質(zhì)樸(traditional, great, ornamental, homemade)，以及不和諧因素的 low 到近乎廉價(jià)的品味(block-built, ugly, UPVC)，增強(qiáng)畫(huà)面感；

最后一點(diǎn)，明確問(wèn)題所在，"These did not fit"，言簡(jiǎn)意賅卻一針見(jiàn)血。如果大家在吐槽今不如昔的時(shí)候也能做到這三點(diǎn)，考官應(yīng)該沒(méi)什么可挑剔了。
