Advancement of modern technology seems to have made the world a smaller one, when people in any corner of the world can make easy access to their peer regardless of long distance and time zone. However, the truth is that an increasing number of people have started to realize that their social network is narrowing down that it is quite necessary to enlarge the social network. The so-called most effective ways to make friends are stated above, and personally, to volunteer for a community activity might be a good choice.

First of all, people who volunteer share the same quality--empathy. A multiple of people engage in social activities because of their personal concern to the helpless. For example, there are a great number of non-profit organizations in the world to help people out of different kinds of troubles. These people, looking forward to the same direction, tend to be more united than the normal and they are more likely to be friends, partners, and allies.

Moreover, people with good heart tend to be more open to strangers. People involved in the community work have to help the strangers, and that is the essence of the work, to make strangers warm. Different to the ordinary people who have set barriers to strangers, these people have to open their heart and accept the people unfamiliar, and this is how friendship blossoms in the very beginning. Therefore, participants of volunteer work are more likely to make friends in the process of helping people.

Furthermore, the sincerity built up in the process of helping and being helped will sustain. To the helpers, the fragrance always stays the hand that gives roses. They are delighted to be helping. While to the people who are being helped, gratitude and appreciation last throughout their life. No doubt the mercy will be paid back one day, and this is how love prolongs.
