　　Speaking of a good photo, the first thing that comes in to my mind was a family photo we took recently. Actually, when I was a child, our family would take photos almost every year, but now we don’t do that anymore. I don’t remember when we stopped this family tradition, maybe because my parents got tired of it.

Anyway, during the May Day holiday this year, we had a family photo taken at my cousin’s wedding. That day, we all dressed up. My dad was in his favorite suit and my mom even wore make-up. I was wearing my favorite dress. After the wedding and before the reception started, my dad suggested that we take a family photo because we all dressed nicely and it was a joyful occasion. Then we asked the photographer of the wedding to take this memorable photo for the three of us. We all had a big smile in the picture.

Now, we enlarged the photo and put it in our living room. I also have a copy and put it in my dorm. My parents say sometimes they would feel lonely because I’m away for college, but when they look at the photo, they feel I’m just with them. Actually, I feel the same way too. Photos are special because they can keep our beautiful and meaning memories.

    
　　Actually, I’ve bought a lot of things that I don’t often use. I think it’s important to learn about the advantages and disadvantages of something that you are planning to buy, especially something expensive.

Recently I bought a juicer. I always admired people who could drink fresh juice at home, so last month, I decided to buy one for my family. I learned that Jiuyang was a famous juicer brand in China, so I bought this brand. After it were delivered to my home, our family members were all very excited. We bought all kinds of fruits to make juice. We had fun for about a week. Soon, we realized that a juicer was good to use but difficult to wash. Every time, I have to use more than ten minutes to make it clean. Now, the once welcomed juicer is lying in a storage box because nobody enjoys taking time to wash it.

Next time, when I want to buy a juicer, I will check it out and make sure it’s user-friendly and easy to wash. I hope I’ll be a wiser shopper and only buy things that are very useful to me.

    
　　I like teamwork because cooperating with others enables us to finish the job efficiently. And there are many opportunities to learn from each other during the process of cooperation. So I’d like to talk about a project I worked with others.

When I was a junior, one day our teacher of Chinese asked us to cooperate with our partners to make a presentation about Socrates. Our team was composed of three hard-working girls and me. This abstract and boring topic puzzled us a lot at first, but soon we made a clear division of the assignment and began our work. To make our presentation interesting, we decided to turn to PPT. According to the division, one member of our team went to collect relevant materials in our school library, another went to search for information and pictures about Socrates on the Internet. Then all of us sorted out and studied the materials before I made the PPT. We put in one week preparing for the presentation and the fourth member of our group delivered the presentation in class.

It turned out to be an informative and vivid presentation: it attracted all our classmates’ attention and our teacher thought highly of it. From the enjoyable experience, I realized that cooperation can save us valuable time and energy, and can help us finish what we can’t do alone. Since then, I had begun to like teamwork more than before.

　　1. What problem is better to be solved through group work？
　　Well, I think many problems need group work and will be better done by group work, such as a complicated or comprehensive problem involving too many aspects to solve, for example, an important case study facing a tight deadline. Members in a group can each contribute their own merits and resources. So it will be easier to solve a problem efficiently and effectively through group work. Moreover, it also helps to cater for individual differences, develop students' knowledge, communication skills and critical-thinking skills.

2. Does Chinese value teamwork?
　　In my opinion, no matter at work or at school, people in China now has begun to emphasize the importance of teamwork. We are willing to join group activities in order to learn team work skills and cultivate team spirit, for example, now at college, we have more group discussions and group projects in class and teachers assign us more group work to be done in a team. I think it is because teamwork is a means to a synergistic way of working, where the sum is greater than the parts. Properly managed, teamwork maximizes strengths by bringing out the best in each team member.

3. Do you think homework is necessary (or important)? Why or why not?
　　Study goes with practice. I think you should practice again and again until you understand the essence of problems. To understand the subject students must spend time doing assignment. Homework can asses the result of understanding. Sometimes the homework given might also require the students to gather some extra information from external sources like library books and newspapers. The second purpose achieved by homework is to intellectually stimulate the child's curiosity for knowledge. Homework that requires a student to gather some information as part of a project, or draw some diagrams or charts, or build something out of paper or word, all stimulate the child's creative and intellectual abilities. The child is forced to explore or enhance his skills, and probably develop some of his inherent qualities.
