Some people think university professors should spend more time doing research while others think they should spend more time educating students. 

The duty of the teacher in higher education is literally as complicated as it is. Reasonable as it looks at first sight, focusing more on instructing students does not complete the most value of a professor. Several factors, such as teaching skills, the quality of knowledge as well as the contribution to the society, contribute to the issue. There-fore, I note that the research deserves more attention from the professors. The reasons will be further illustrated as follows.

開頭解析:第一句話可能對部分同學(xué)來說就翻譯不來了, as…as it is 這里其實有兩個結(jié)構(gòu) as…as“ 如什么一樣”和as it is “看樣子,照現(xiàn)在看來”,所以整句話的意思就是“老師在高等教育中的職責(zé)如字面上一樣復(fù)雜”。第二句就用了倒裝,as在這里有盡管的意思千萬不能忘。

第三句是一句套句,several factors,a,b as well as c contri-bute to the is-sue,表示對這個問題而言a,b,c這三個因素都起到了作用。第四句是一個明確的觀點表達(dá),絕對不能照抄題目,要顯示一下自己的語言變化能力。最后一句為萬能套句。

First, teaching skills can be shaped through the process of research.  When doing research, such as conducting the experiment, it is inevitable for professors to encounter certain problems and dilemmas. Once they successfully conquer the problems, they would have a whole brand new cognition towards the study.

This new understanding stands for the improvement of their own ability and will facilitate the professor’s teaching  skills. For example, back when I was in university, my tutor developed a fresh method of teaching in physics after his breakthrough in his research in friction study.  In other words, spending more time in doing research will finally pay off in a professor’s improvement in teaching.

Second, the students can benefit from the cutting-edge knowledge bred from the research. Given the fact that a professor is the major resource for a student to master the abstruse knowledge, which is hard to be learned by oneself, the professor is responsible to work diligently through research to impart the students with the newly outcome of the study.

According to the survey carried out by Youth Magazine previously among the students in an anonymous university, 72% of students confided that they would rather have their professors spend more time in research for that the outcome of research will influence their depth of study to a large extent.

While only 28% of students prefer to have their teachers care their study more. In order to bring the best knowledge to the students, professors are expected to spare no effort to their research.

Third, the outcome of research will speed up the advancement of the society. Since professors in universities are normally of higher intellectual level, their research is closely connected with the state-of-the-art technology, which is key to the revolution to people’s life. If the professors put more attention to the research, a great chance is that they can bring about the change to the development of the society.

For example, the famous communication tool Wechat was firstly devised in Wuhan university, China, in the research conducted by professor Zhang. In a very short time, this tool has become prevailing in people’s daily life and brought a lot of convenience to the daily work.

主體段解析:這三段的結(jié)構(gòu)都非常明確:中心句+論證+例證+段落總結(jié)句。這里需要注意的點是:中心句必須是整段的結(jié)論,必須簡潔,必須放在段落的首句;論證最好用到因果論證,因此不可缺少的就是使用“因為,所以,由于,導(dǎo)致”這些詞,論證是這一段落的核心,這個部分必須顯示自己的思維和語言能力,這個部分處理不好這個段落基本也就那樣了;例子一定要避免流水賬,達(dá)到配合論證就可以點到為止了,因為大部分例子為編造,所以多說多錯;段落的總結(jié)不一定需要,但最好首尾呼應(yīng)。

All things considered, I reckon that it would be a wise decision if professors in university spend more time doing research for the benefits discussed above.
  結(jié)尾解析:結(jié)尾并不是非常重要,通常是開頭的重復(fù),只做到結(jié)構(gòu)的完整性即可,在時間有限,結(jié)尾段沒打完的情況下不會對整篇文章的評分造成特別大的影響。
