四類(lèi)常見(jiàn)長(zhǎng)難句型 

1) 先倒裝，再省略

All marble is composed of crystals of the minerals calcite or dolomite, ( ), are perfectly white.

A. when, pure which    B. when. Which pure    C. which, pure when    D. which, when pure

答案選D。 狀語(yǔ)從句的省略！

2) 從句套從句

what is particularly important is that although the materials available to a society may to some extent limit or influence what it can do artistically, the materials by no means determine what is done.

主語(yǔ)從句，表語(yǔ)從句， although的讓步狀語(yǔ)從句，賓語(yǔ)從句。

3) 倒裝 

Individualism is weakly developed in folk cultures, as are social classes. As 后頭倒裝。

4) 強(qiáng)調(diào)句

It was not the originality of the ideal that made these satires popular. It was the manner of expression, the satiric method, that made them interesting and entertaining

2個(gè)強(qiáng)調(diào)句， 注意that 可能放在最后。

托福閱讀難句分析

1. A good example of this is found in the kinetic molecular theory, in which gases are pictured as being made up of many small particles that are in constant motion。該句子后面是一個(gè)定語(yǔ)從句修飾 theory, 其中as是介詞，后面跟一個(gè)詞組的現(xiàn)在分詞形勢(shì)作介詞賓語(yǔ)；最后又一個(gè)定語(yǔ)從句修飾particles.

2. Science is build with facts just as a house is built with bricks, but a collection of facts cannot be called science any more than a pile of bricks can be called a house。just as做比喻，后面not…any more than 是指像…一樣不…，而不是表示比較句。

3. The Native Americans of northern California were highly skilled at basketry, using the reed, grasses, barks, and roots hey found around them to fashion articles of all sorts and sizes---not only trays, containers, and cooking pots, but hats, boats, fish traps, baby carriers, and ceremonial objects.

句子主干是 The Native Americans of northern California were highly skilled at basketry，后面是現(xiàn)在分詞短語(yǔ)做方式狀語(yǔ)，其中they found around them 是省略了引導(dǎo)詞的定語(yǔ)從句， 修飾前頭幾個(gè)名詞，最后列舉的物品用not only……but 來(lái)連接，省略also。

4. Basic to any understanding of Canada in the 20 years after the Second World War is the country’s impressive population growth。倒裝句，主語(yǔ)是the country’s impressive population growth，前半句只是句子的謂語(yǔ)。

5. what of the southern leaders, all of whom were liable to charges of treason。what of…… 是……的情況怎樣的意思，be liable to 是可能遭到……的意思。

6. Not until near the end of the nineteenth century did inventors achieve the delicate balance of insulation and circulation needed for an efficient icebox。Not until的倒裝句， 最后needed for an efficient icebox 過(guò)去分詞短語(yǔ)修飾前頭名詞。

7. The variation between the hemispheres corresponds to which side of the body is used to perform specific activities。該句還有一個(gè)賓語(yǔ)從句作為corresponds to 的賓語(yǔ)， 由which引導(dǎo)，但which 在這兒不是代詞，而是形容詞...

8. And in Sacramento an excavation at the site of a fashionable nineteenth-century hotel revealed that garbage had been stashed in the building’s basement despite sanitation laws to the contrary。該句主語(yǔ)為excavation,后面有幾個(gè)限定主語(yǔ)的成分， 主句包含一個(gè)賓語(yǔ)從句，從句中又有一個(gè)讓步狀語(yǔ)， 實(shí)際上相當(dāng)于省略了的從句 despite that sanitation law are to the contrary.
