[寧波分校] 寫作中常見句型錯誤

在英文寫作中，對于許多英文功底不強或者英文文章熏陶不夠的學(xué)生，他們的寫作模式是腦子里想出一個中文的句子，然后將其翻譯成英文。并且，在翻譯的時候，他們?nèi)菀走M行逐字逐句的直譯。在這種情況下，這類學(xué)生無法區(qū)別中英語序的不同，寫出的句子有明顯的按照中文語序翻譯的痕跡，造成了語法錯誤。本文將針對這種情況，給出一些實際性的建議，希望能給這些學(xué)生一定的幫助。
       這種按照中文語序翻譯的句子會有以下的錯誤：
       
       一、 雙謂語錯誤
       例1：
       題目：Some people believe that students should be encouraged to make comments on or even criticize their teachers. Others argue that respect and discipline will disappear. Discuss both views and give your opinion.
       對于這道題目，有學(xué)生在寫學(xué)生應(yīng)該評估老師這個觀點時，提出這樣一個論點：學(xué)生評估老師能夠讓他們提高教學(xué)質(zhì)量。
       按照中文語序，翻譯成英文是：
       Students make comments on teachers can make teachers improve their teaching quality. 
       在這句話中，有兩個謂語：make和 can make，存在著雙謂語錯誤。
       針對這種情況，有以下兩種建議可以避免這種錯誤：
       1. 采用動名詞形式作主語，將其改成：
       Making comments on teachers enables them to improve their teaching quality.
       2. 用if 改寫主語，將其改成：
       If students make comments on teachers, it is likely to improve teachers’ teaching quality.

例2：
       題目：Some people say university students should pay for their tuition fees. Others argue that the government should pay for the tuition fees. What is your opinion?
       有學(xué)生認為政府應(yīng)該支付大學(xué)學(xué)費。理由是：政府支付學(xué)費能夠減輕家庭的經(jīng)濟壓力。
       按照中文語序，翻譯成：
       The government pay for the tuition fees can relieve family’s financial burden.
       同樣這句話犯了雙謂語錯誤，有兩個謂語：pay 和 can relieve
       按照例1提供的改寫方式，可以寫成：
       1. Paying for the tuition fees by the government can relieve family’s financial burden.
       2. If the government pays for the tuition fees, it can relieve family’s financial burden.

       例3：
       題目：Each year some languages die out. Some people believe it is good because it makes it easier for people to communicate and relieves their burden of learning a foreign language. Do you agree or disagree?
       在寫這篇文章時，有些同學(xué)認為有些語言滅絕是不好的。翻譯成：
       Some languages die out is negative.
       這句話也犯了雙謂語的錯誤。分析這句話，發(fā)現(xiàn)有一個形容詞。那么采取的方法是：
       1. 采用主語從句It is adj that +從句
       It is negative that some languages die out. 
       2. 采用It is adi for sb/sth to do sth
       It is negative for some languages to die out.

二、多重名詞疊加作定語錯誤
       例1：政府應(yīng)該給貧困地區(qū)的孩子提供受教育的機會。
       按中文語序翻譯的句子：
       The government should provide poor area children with gaining education opportunity.
       對于這種錯誤，建議抓住中心語與修飾詞的關(guān)系，并將中心語提前。
     “貧困地區(qū)的孩子”這個表述中，中心語是“孩子”，修飾詞是“貧困地區(qū)”，表示的是孩子所處的地點。因此可以改成：children in poor areas
     “接受教育的機會”，中心語是“機會”，修飾詞“接受教育”與它是所屬關(guān)系�？梢愿某桑簍he opportunity of gaining education
      所以整句話可以修改成：
      The government should provide children in poor areas with the opportunity of gaining education.
