Playing sports can teach people lessons about life.

 范文：

Sports, an effective method to get people relaxed and help them build up their bodies, have been developed into considerable forms and composed of various international sporting events. Some individuals believe that playing sports is nothing but an approach to have fun and keep fit. However, in my opinion, those activities can teach people lessons about life.

To begin with, individual games enable participants to acquire a strong will. The strong will, which can be regarded as a courage to overcome obstacles and a desire to challenge oneself of an athlete, is definitely of crucial importance in an individual competition. For example, I have a friend Lily, who is a runner in my college and has a passion for marathon. While other players would usually make preparations for a marathon one or two months in advance, she has already formed a habit of practicing everyday. With the aim to improve her endurance and physical quality, she persists running in the evening everyday, gradually strengthening her willpower and defeating her tiredness during the tough long race. As a result, Lily has obtained almost all medals in the marathons held in different corners of the nation and, furthermore, she applies her strong will to other fields she engages in, which in turn facilitates her to get through troubles quickly and brings her a lot of appreciation from others. Never had she insisted on drilling would she develop such marvelous willpower.

What’s more, a lesson about cooperation can be delivered through team games. To be more specific, in such games as basketball, football and boating, teamwork, including trust and coordination among team members, is an indispensable factor to the victory. The basketball match is a case in point. In a basketball team, there are five members playing various roles when competing against the opponent. These roles include a Center, a Power Forward, a Small Forward, a Point Guard and a Shooting Guard. Not only do they respectively take their own responsibilities to offend or defend, but also they possess a precise awareness of what the other members are up to and how to help each other in order to get the score. Generally speaking, the strategy in a team game usually focuses on the cooperation among members, emphasizing trust and coordination rather than individualism. As we all know, Michael Jordan was a central role in his team, but it is also undeniable that, without the excellent cooperation, he could not head his team to achieve so many honors. Through playing games, people build up bodies and, more importantly, gain valuable friendship. That is the charm of sports.

Admittedly, some people participate in sports just for fun and will not devote much time or energy into them. As for those people, playing sports is more enjoyable and private. For example, many people like jogging alone on the playground or in the park to adjust themselves, during which they won’t play hard in a team. When playing sports refers to leisure, no wonder that seldom individuals can get a lesson about life from it.

Based on the above, I believe that people can learn something concerning life by taking part in sports. Sports activities can not only construct one’s willpower but enhance cooperation awareness as well. No matter which kind of sports they are, intense or comfortable, it is of importance for us to participate in these beneficial activities.
