【老友記第五季第二十四集】劇情提要：老友們一行六人來(lái)到了拉斯維加斯，Chandler和Monica因前任的事在飛機(jī)上就開始鬧別扭，Chandler為取得Monica的注意而佯裝要回家。他們和好后，莫妮卡繼續(xù)賭博，手氣非常旺。Chandler說(shuō)，如果她再扔出一個(gè)王牌八點(diǎn)，他們就在賭城注冊(cè)結(jié)婚。兩枚骰子中有一枚骰子彈出了牌桌，點(diǎn)數(shù)難以判斷：一個(gè)是4點(diǎn)，另一個(gè)界于4點(diǎn)和5點(diǎn)之間，最后兩人相視一笑，這就是一個(gè)王牌八點(diǎn)！Chandler和Monica決定在拉斯維加斯注冊(cè)結(jié)婚。

Monica: Shut up!! It just got interesting!
[Scene: The Craps table, continued from earlier.]
Monica: What did you just say?
Chandler: You roll another hard eight and we get married here tonight.

Chandler: Yes! I love you! I've never loved anybody as much as I love you.
Monica: I've never loved anybody as much as I love you.
Chandler: Okay, so if an eight comes up, we take it as a sign and we do it! What do you say?

Chandler: (spots one) Okay! That's a four! And where-where's the other one?
Drunken Gambler: It went under the table.
Monica: Nobody move! Okay, you look that way; I'll look this way!
Chandler: All right!
Chandler: Here it is! Here it is!
Monica: That could be a four or a five. It's your call.
Chandler: It's a four.
Monica: I think so too.

This tradition comes from an Old English rhyme（押韻詩(shī)） ("Something Olde, Something New, Something Borrowed, Something Blue, A Sixpence in your Shoe"), and the four objects that the bride adds to her wedding outfit（裝備） or carries with her on the big day are just good luck charms. Don't stress too much about them -- they are the little tokens of love your mother, sister, other relatives（親戚）, and attendants（出席人員） will give you at the eleventh hour (although you can give them to yourself, too). Something old represents continuity（連續(xù)性）; something new offers optimism for the future（對(duì)未來(lái)表示樂(lè)觀）; something borrowed symbolizes borrowed happiness; something blue stands for purity, love, and fidelity（純凈，愛(ài)和忠誠(chéng)）; and a sixpence in your shoe is a wish for good fortune and prosperity（財(cái)富和興旺）, although this remains largely a British custom.

這時(shí)候我們就明白了，原來(lái)西方國(guó)家跟我國(guó)一樣，在婚禮上新人們會(huì)有傳承，也會(huì)有親朋好友寄托的對(duì)未來(lái)的美好祝福。
