Topic: It is more important for school children to learn about their local history than the world history. To what extent do you agree or disagree?

對(duì)于這篇題目來(lái)說(shuō)，估計(jì)不少同學(xué)都會(huì)選擇站在兩者都重要的立場(chǎng)上。那么我們主體段一個(gè)寫the importance of learning history，而另一段寫 the significance of learning world history就可以了。一個(gè)簡(jiǎn)單的提綱可以是：

1.學(xué)習(xí)當(dāng)?shù)貧v史——使學(xué)生更加了解本土文化，增強(qiáng)歸屬感；
2.學(xué)習(xí)世界歷史——使學(xué)生能夠開闊眼界。

Learning the splendid or mournful anecdotes occurred hundreds years ago has always been an unavoidable subject for students in all educational levels. However, versus between the importance of local and world history study has never been ceased. Argument of some educationalists is that for school children, local history is of more significance. From where I am standing, the different functions of local and world history for the learning, or even growth of a student determine their equal importance in education.

Local history, as the representative of one’s origin, establishes a strong self identity for students. Culture and living environment—products of long time sentiment of migration and communication—play a fundamental role in the uniqueness of a region. These can be traced through the recording of a generation to another, also called history. Through learning this, children could have a better understanding of what makes their current living style and customs, building up a tight bond between the area they live in and them will be tightened. This nostalgic relationship will be deeply rooted in their blood and never fade away. It can be further illustrated about Chinese migrants dotting all over the world. Their next generation is always forced to learn Chinese history since childhood by seniors of the family.

While there is no doubt that learning world history is a good way to clarify students’ perception of our living planet. Even though greatly simplified, textbooks in high school still could mark the great and influential events happening in most corners worldwide from tribal to civilized times. Students, apparently without any chances to witness in person, could still experience the serious debates between Greek philosophers, the intensity of forefathers of USA during writing The Declaration of Independence, as well as the greatness of Empire where the sun never falls. These are the magic of world history; no need to step out of their room, the splendid scroll of millions-years-aged human civilization is extended before adolescent’s eyes.

Overall, history learning will never be the thing to be ignored, no matter the local or the world one.
