16.Three theories to explain why moths often fly towards artificial lights. ^
閱讀:
(1)飛蛾有本能,在avoid predator such as frogs 的時(shí)候會(huì)fly towards the moon,所以moth 遇到predator 的時(shí)候,看到light 以為是moon 就飛過去(2)花在夜間會(huì)反射出比周圍亮的光,Moths oftenflytoflowerssotheycansuckthenectar (吮吸花蜜)from flowers. So when artificial light is on, they think it is the light from flowers.
(3)光源周圍的溫度高,Moths fly to artificial light because they want to heat themselves.
聽力:教授一一反駁
1. the lecture says this is not logical for they fly longer and simply just cycle the light source and not fly above. Besides, when the warning sign of predator is gone, they still do such behavior.
2. Secondly, the speaker indicates that moths fly to the flowers because they can detect the C02 amount released from the flowers, not because of the glow reflected by the flowers from the moon in the dark. Besides, artificial lights do not ooze such C02 thing, yet the moths are still rushing to chase the light.
3. denoting moths would fly into florescent light much often, yet florescent light is cold and it does not generate much heat for them. They do not like to fly to the light source which,in comparison, is warmer.
