The pie charts describe the proportion of water consumed for various aims, including domestic, agricultural and industrial use, in six regions of the world, namely North America, South America, Europe, Africa, Central Asia, as well as South East Asia. It is worth noting that except Europe and North America where water is mainly used for industry, the other four areas consume water mostly for the purpose of agriculture production.

On one hand, North America and Europe have similar division of water used for different objectives. More precisely, industrial use occupies the largest percentage of water consumption in two countries, 48% and 53% respectively, which is followed by that for agricultural purposes, 39% and 32%. While, only the rest 13% and 15% in each country of water is spent for domestic aims.

On the other hand, among the other four countries, agriculture always remains the biggest purpose of water use. Specifically, 84% in Africa, 88% in Central Asia, and 81% in South East Asia, along with 71% in South America consumed water for the need of agriculture. While, only about a tenth is spent for domestic in these countries except South America; similar situation also happens in terms of industrial use in the four nations. Notably, 19% of water in South America is exploited for domestic purposes.
