Agree or disagree: It is more important for universities to spend money on improving facilities (such as library, computer labs, and technology in general) than to spend money on hiring famous teachers

In the era of extraordinary diversity and sophistication, such a heated debate is often posed in front of us: whether school should fund more money on facilities than hire teachers. An enormous number of folks cast their favor on this statement. Nevertheless, from my perspective, I give my priority to hiring teachers. My point can be made by the following reasons,

The first contributing factor lies in that hiring more famous teachers exerts a positive impact on promising students a prosperous career. In such an ability-oriented society, compared to improving facilities, the renowned teacher provides students with a more efficient method to acquire academic knowledge. Given that students are sitting in an advanced classroom with a green tutor, the only thing students can get is the knowledge point from their books.

On the contrary, once taught by a famous professor, the students, without any doubt, can also acquire the right and effective method to digest the knowledge and put these theories into practice. To further develop this point, we do not need look more than the example of my brother, Eric. My brother is a sophomore, he once attended profess Lee’s class, an expert in physics. He told me professor Lee opened a new door for him. The professor not only clarified the knowledge and the formulas in a detailed and humor way, but also displayed the applications in our daily life. Thus, hiring more famous teachers indeed is a perfect way to help students have an overall grasp of the academic theories.

Too add more credibility to my argument, hiring more famous teachers means that we students are provided with more access to acquaint elites in various fields. in the wake of high-speed society, keeping contact with elites in our field is an indispensable ingredient of being successful. Provided that the university hires more famous teachers and professors, we students, to a certain extent, are capable of attaining a solid relationship with our teachers.

What’s more, it is known that famous teachers always possess a sound and mature social circle in his field. In this way, if the students behave well and get an A performance in class, chances are that the students will get an invitation or recommending letter from his teacher or his instructor’s allies. In sharp contrast, the advancing of facilities surely improves our study efficiency in a way, but it provides few access to get to know the experts in our academic field. thus, we are deprived of the chance to start a prosperous career in the very beginning.

According to a recent survey conducted by China daily, nearly 65 percent interviewees acknowledged that keeping touch with the professors in their own school is a tremendous positive push in their job seeking and promotion.

to put it into a nutshell, though the improvements of facilities in university can give us some advantages, the merits of hiring famous teachers is far out weigh those of elevating hardware.
