雅思閱讀中的動詞分析

1. As strikers downed tools and commuters battled to work, some 340,000 French teenagers wrestling with the question “Did we live in order to be happy?”
　�、� Down tools 罷工，亦可作put down one’s tools;
　�、� Battle 本意是戰(zhàn)役，這里指奮力開路去工作，表示因為罷工導(dǎo)致交通癱瘓，commuters(通勤者即上下班的人)出行困難;
　�、� Wrestle本意是摔跤，這里wrestle with the question意為“遇到難題而左思右想。”
　　2. In fine tradition, he has booted the problem to his new prime minister, Manuel Valls, who has sounded tough, declaring that there is “no question” of shelving the reform.
　　④ Boot本意為靴子，做動詞表示踢，這里boot the problem to 意為“把問題踢給…”
　�、� Shelve看到這個詞大家會想到shelf(書架，擱板)，所以它的動詞shelve意為“把…擱在架子上，擱置”那么這里的shelving the reform就是“擱置改革”暫時將其放在一邊不理。

　�、� Bill一詞大家都知道可以當(dāng)做人名(電影殺死比爾 kill Bill)，亦可當(dāng)做名詞表示賬單，法案，做動詞表示宣布宣傳，這里billed as a bold reformer意為“他被宣傳為(認(rèn)為)是一名大膽的改革者”
