    Laws should not be rigid or fixed. Instead, they should be flexible enough to take account of various circumstances, times, and places.

范文：
    The speaker’s assertion is rational in particular respects, while I cannot fully agree with it. Admittedly, Human beings are the constitution of the society, which, in other words, means that we humans have emotion, thereby, as restriction of certain human beings, flexible laws are feasible to be enacted. But as laws should be set as a ruler of the society, whose authority should not be easily sophisticated by any people. From this point of view, the assertion evokes contention.
    Consider certain respects in the modern world, our laws need to be flexible, to set human requirement in the first place, especially in the long run. Take laws related to birth control for example. Before New China was in her forties, the population has boosted to a worrying state, and if the situation was not properly controlled at that time, it would be a considerable burden now, so the Birth Control Law was enacted. But since years have passed and the circumstance has changed, especially in metropolitans of China, where fewer people want to have babies, where the birth rate is growing lower, therefore it’s high time that we adapted the law to meet the need of the country development.
    This leads directly to another rational aspect in the speaker’s assertion. As each country has its special circumstance, even in a certain country, different places have diverse economic situation, constitution of population, and so forth. If we set a single rigid law in these places, regardless of their diversity, the result may not be that we have proposed. Therefore, the only feasible approach is to take account of the specific differences among these places, then make appropriate law for each of them, only in this way, can we maximize the positive effect of the law.
    However, although flexible laws are almost fully feasible, we should set some restriction to keep their side-effect from damaging our social regulation. For example, tigers in the cage are live studying material for children, which are quite beneficial, while if we set them free, there harmfulness would surpass their benefit. Similarly, only if the authority of laws takes control of itself in a certain sphere where our flexibility is confined, in other word, fixed, would we fulfill the destiny of laws.
    In the final analysis, I agree to the speaker on the notion that our laws should be flexible enough to meet the goal of a society, which is what fully rigid laws cannot reach, but additional words should be added, that we must fix the laws in some respects and confine them in a certain sphere, to make the notion more rational.
