I’d like to talk about Stephen, who’s known as ‘THE intelligent one’ in our university. Aged 24, the tall thin guy is the youngest professor in our department. It is said that he was a child prodigy and he finished senior high at 13 and started graduate study at 15 and earned a PHD at 19. He’s got a talent in language study. Actually he has already mastered 8 different foreign languages, namely, English, French, German, Italian, Spanish, Greek, Arabian and Japanese. Now it is said that he’s making effort studying a tribal language of the Hawaiian people. And this won’t take him long for it never took him longer than half a year to become a fluent user of a new language.
He also has a memory that is unbelievably good. He never forgets anyone’s name or phone number, as long as he’s been told once, and just once. As a result, he never needs a roll book when checking the attendance in his lectures. Mind you, his students just love him and in most cases they won’t skive. One more thing about this genius. He is the keyboardist of a Jazz band. And they give concerts once a month in the Glorious bar-- glorious is the name for it -- on campus. I’ve been there once, and I found his performance just wonderful. He’s really good at improvisation.
