Rewards, prevailing in the education system for nearly a century, has been regarded as one of the prominent elements to stimulate students’ motivation. Some people advocate that school are supposed to reward those achieving best, whereas other believe that the students with great improvement deserve the rewards. I am of the opinion that it is not wise for school to take a blind eye on either one of them . (67)
 
Admittedly, a series of benefits would be gained by rewarding the genius, for it is apparently provide students with an incentive to improve dramatically. For one thing,  rewards can facilitate the top students to acquire further outstanding personal attainment in order to perpetuate their honor. For another, with rewarding the outstanding students are offered opportunity to pursue other subjects or majors due to the rapid learning ability to grasp knowledge, which eventually allows students to explore new skills and knowledge that they originally did not have interest in. (88)
 
However, the function of school is not only to nurture elites, those with great improved should also be encouraged. Because rewards, as a form of positive reinforcement, is a way for students to understand that their performance is adequate or deserving of praise. According to one study conducted by a Cornell professor, C. Kirabo Jackson, students who are rewarded for earning improvement on tests tend to score higher on the next test and choose to attend college at higher rates than those who are not rewarded for grades.(90)
 
Personally, rewards give students a sense of meaningfulness and accomplishment for learning to master a certain subject, skill, or activity. Thus school should place much emphasis on all students who have motivation to foster their development but rather on the genuine at hand, with the aim of allowing all of them to have a bright future as they further develop their passions or interests. (64)
