雅思寫作中的如何表達(dá)“許多”

 在雅思寫作中，在主體段落擴充方面，我們往往會在名詞前加表達(dá)“多”概念的短語或者形容詞，然后，對于本身對這些短語就不太熟的同學(xué)，使用起來就會破洞百出。那么如何從根本上克服這些問題呢?我認(rèn)為將這些短語歸納和總結(jié)是解決這個難題的方案之一。

雅思寫作中的如何表達(dá)“許多”一、首先用來修飾可數(shù)名詞復(fù)數(shù)形式的短語有哪些呢?

簡單粗暴級別的詞匯有：numerous, various, many, some

稍顯復(fù)雜的表達(dá)例如短語有：a large number of , a great many, scores of、dozens of和quite a few

高手級別的有：a host of / a wealth of individuals / citizens

1. There are numerous methods of handling this challenge

2. A great many individuals would be opposed to this perspective

3. A great number of problems have arisen from this act carried out last year.

4. Scores/Dozens of calories would be burned by exercising regularly.

值得注意的是：

1)many 也可以做代詞用，表示“許多人”

many of them, however, stand on a totally different ground.

2) a great/good many 做代詞，表示“許多人(東西)” eg A great many of us like American English better than British English.(我們中的許多人喜歡美語勝過英國英語)

3)the number of + n (可數(shù)名詞復(fù)數(shù))表示"....的數(shù)目”,用它做主語時，謂語用單數(shù)

eg The number of citizens keeping pets has risen to fifteen percent in the last few years.

There was a little change in the number of people using the Internet during the period.

雅思寫作中的如何表達(dá)“許多”二、用來修飾不可數(shù)名詞表達(dá)“許多”概念的詞：

簡單粗暴的詞匯和短語有：

much、 a great / good deal of 和a large amount of

高手級別的詞匯和短語有：

An avalanche(雪崩) of

eg It is obvious that supporting the space exploration will consume much public fund of our government.

A great deal of limited fund would be put into implementing this policy.

I spend a large amount of money on books every month.

An avalanche of interest will be need.

值得注意的是：

1)much 單用，做名詞表示“許多，大量” eg Much has been said about it .(關(guān)于這種事已經(jīng)說的很多了)

2)a great deal 做名詞詞組和副詞詞組，也表示“大量，許多”/ 還可以修飾比較級，表示程度。

eg At the end of the year there was a great deal to do .(年底有很多事情做)

eg They talked a great deal about the problem.(他們對這個問題談?wù)摿嗽S多)

eg He is a great deal better today (他今天好多了)(修飾比較級，表示程度)

雅思寫作中的如何表達(dá)“許多”三、既可以修飾可數(shù)名詞復(fù)數(shù)，又可以修飾不可數(shù)名詞

a lot of 、lots of 、plenty of 、supplies of ，

a great/quantity of 、great/large quantities of

eg he has got a lot/lots of questions to ask.

A lot of / lots of work is to be done this week.

There are plenty of books on the shelf.

I have plenty of time to do it

Supplies of trees were washed away.

We have had a large quantity of /large quantities of rain this summer.

Large quantities of fish have been caught recently.(最近捕了大量的魚)

值得注意的是：

1)a lot 名詞詞組表示“大量，很多”/做副詞詞組表示“很多，非常，相當(dāng)”/做程度狀語修飾比較急

eg I have a lot to do today. (很多事 名詞)

eg he helped me a lot (副詞很多)

eg I like this picture quite a lot (副詞 非常)

eg I’m feeling a lot better now (程度狀語修飾比較級)我現(xiàn)在感覺好多了

2)large quantities of + 不可數(shù)名詞/可數(shù)名詞復(fù)數(shù) ，謂語用復(fù)數(shù)

eg Large quantities of water are needed every day. (修飾不可數(shù)n)

There are quantities of flowers in garden.(修飾可數(shù)n 復(fù)數(shù))

雅思寫作中的如何表達(dá)“許多”四、many a /an + 單數(shù)可數(shù)名詞 也表示許多，這個短語作主語時謂語用單數(shù)

eg Many a girl in our class has learned to swim

Many a book was translated into English.
