獨家：教師談2016年SAT數(shù)學考試改革篇（一）

SAT多年來在考試內容固化的批評之下，外加ACT的分庭抗爭，高高在上的SAT終于要在2016年走下神壇，回歸人間(美利堅)，數(shù)學部分也不例外地走向實用邁了一大步。

首先，是題量和時間。題目總數(shù)只增加了3題，但額外多出了10分鐘。這意味考生每題擁有更多的思考和計算時間，從原先平均每題的77秒增加到了 84秒。不錯的消息!

此外，這58題中有20題不能使用計算機，只有25分鐘的答題時間。每題75秒。這似乎對于頭腦靈活的中國學生來說不會成為什么負擔。

但是，請嘗試在75秒內完成下題：

Aresearcher places two colonies of bacteria into two petri dishes that each havearea 10 square centimeters. After the initial placement of the bacteria (t=0),the researcher measures and records the area covered by the bacteria in eachdish every ten minutes. The data for each dish were it by a smooth curve, asshown above, where each curve represents the area of a dish covered by bacteriaas a function of time, in hours. Which of the following is a correct statementabout the data above?

A)At time t = 0, both dishes are 100% covered by bacteria.

B)At time t = 0, bacteria covers 10% of Dish 1 and 20% of Dish 2.

C)At time t = 0, Dish 2 is covered with 50% more bacteria than Dish 1.

D)For the first hour, the area covered in Dish 2 is increasing at a higher averagerate than the area covered in Dish 1.

你在時間內完成了嗎?這道題目本身是一道典型結合實際的圖表題。學生完全可能在今后的課堂中遇到這樣的案例分析。CollegeBoard無疑將會加大該題型在數(shù)學考試中的比重。

題目內容是：一個研究者把兩組細菌放入兩個有蓋培養(yǎng)皿中,每個培養(yǎng)皿面積為10平方厘米。從初始細菌放置(t = 0)起,研究者會每隔十分鐘測量和記錄每個培養(yǎng)皿中被細菌所覆蓋的區(qū)域面積。從每個培養(yǎng)皿所得的數(shù)據(jù)如上圖所示的平滑曲線。圖中每個曲線表示該培養(yǎng)皿中被細菌所覆蓋的區(qū)域面積以小時為單位的時間函數(shù)。那么，以下哪一個正確表述了上面的數(shù)據(jù)呢?

A)在時間t = 0時，2個培養(yǎng)皿都100%被細菌覆蓋。

B)在時間t = 0時，細菌覆蓋10%的培養(yǎng)皿1和20%的培養(yǎng)皿2。

C)在時間t = 0時，培養(yǎng)皿2比培養(yǎng)皿1多覆蓋了50%的細菌。

D)在第一個小時， 培養(yǎng)皿2中的被覆蓋面積比培養(yǎng)皿1中的被覆蓋面積增加的更快。

毫無疑問這題的答案是B。如果看中文解題，除了文字有些繞，相信大多數(shù)的同學都不會被題目的本身所難道。但是在全英語的條件下做題，那又是另一個故事了。我們只有75秒。

我們再來看一道官方樣題：

Aninternational bank issues its Traveler credit cards worldwide. When a customermakes a purchase using a Traveler card in a currency different from thecustomer’s home currency, the bank converts the purchase price at the dailyforeign exchange rate and then charges a 4% fee on the converted cost.

Saralives in the United States, but is on vacation in India. She used her Travelercard for a purchase that cost 602 rupees (Indian currency). The bank posted acharge of $9.88 to her account that included the 4% fee.

PART 1

Whatforeign exchange rate, in Indian rupees per one U.S. dollar, did the bank usefor Sara’s charge? Round your answer to the nearest whole number.

PART 2

Abank in India sells a prepaid credit card worth 7,500 rupees. Sara can buy theprepaid card using dollars at the daily exchange rate with no fee, but she willlose any money let unspent on the prepaid card. What is the least number of the7,500 rupees on the prepaid card Sara must spend for the prepaid card to becheaper than charging all her purchases on the Traveler card? Round your answerto the nearest whole number of rup fees.

W(我)Q(去)!這就是傳說中的WordQuestions(文字題)。而且這不是我們常見的選擇題(可以用代入法高效解題)，而是需要考生計算出答案后，手動填入答題紙。到這里相信大家應該明白。

總之，對于美國學生來說，新增不用計算器解2次方程等或許會是一個問題-我們無需對題目的難度過于擔心;而對于中國學生而言，能否在時間內有效地理解我們不太接觸的圖表和大量文字抑或成為取得高分的一大障礙。
