雙方觀點(diǎn)都有一定道理：從國際關(guān)系角度看，奧運(yùn)會(huì)可以促進(jìn)國際交流與和平事業(yè)(foster international communication and peace)，增進(jìn)各民族間相互了解與合作(promote understanding and co-operations among peoples and cultures),推動(dòng)國際旅游業(yè)發(fā)展(facilitate the development of international tourism)第二次世界大戰(zhàn)中Olympic Games 兩次被迫取消(had to be cancelled)充分說明了奧運(yùn)會(huì)與國際交流之間的緊密聯(lián)系

但從經(jīng)濟(jì)角度考慮，the Olympic Games 確實(shí)有可能帶來虧損(carry the risk of financial burden and economic loss for the host city and host nation),場館建設(shè)(construction of venues)基礎(chǔ)設(shè)施的改善(infrastructure improvement)和安全措施(security measures)都需要巨大的財(cái)力來支持。1976年蒙特利爾奧運(yùn)會(huì)花了近30年才還清債務(wù)

所以正確的態(tài)度是：在充分考慮申辦(bidding)好處的同時(shí)，舉辦奧運(yùn)會(huì)也應(yīng)該量力而行(set up a sensible budget and avoid over-budget plans.)
