Task 1:

Talk about one of your impressive art of work. (literature or music)

Sample :

Speaking of a piece of music I like, the one that came into my mind is Do-Re-Mi. It comes from the famous movie which called The Sound of Music. This movie deeply impressed me. In the movie, as a tutor in a big family, Maria managed to teach 7 children the basic musical notes. Sitting on grassland, Maria began to teach them how to sing while playing the guitar. The lyrics go like this:

Doe — a deer, a female deer,

Ray — a drop of golden sun,

Me — a name I call myself,

Far — a long, long way to run,

Sew — a needle pulling thread,

La — a note to follow ‘sew’,

Tea — a drink with jam and bread.

And that will bring us back to [do]

oh—oh—oh!

It is very interesting. In this song, seven basic musical notes are interpreted in a different way by Maria, thus it becomes very easy for children to remember. I really love the rhythm and the melody of song. When I listen to this song, I feel totally relaxed and unwind.

Task 2

when you earn a little extra money, is it better to spend your money or to save it ?

Sample:

I will save the extra money. First, as a student, actually I have the tight budget, I want to stand on my feet and don’t like to rely on my parents. If I have the extra money, I prefer to deposit it into my bank account and I think it’s better to save it rather than spending it on food and clothes. Second, if I want to make a big purchase like iphone6, google watch or other gadgets, I think it’s good to save some extra money every month. Last week, my cell phone was broken. Instead of asking my parents to pay the bill, I bought a new one by using my bank account.

Third, as a well-organized person majoring in Finance, I want to do some investments in the stock market. So it’s a must for me to save the extra money.

Task 3

學(xué)校每年開大會(huì)，內(nèi)容是全體師生的發(fā)展。對(duì)話中的女同學(xué)不同意，因?yàn)樗�覺得沒必要聽，學(xué)校把開會(huì)內(nèi)容放在網(wǎng)上會(huì)有更多人看到，而且有很多人不能到報(bào)告廳參加會(huì)議，發(fā)郵件更好。

plan: The school plans to hold an annual meeting for community about the development of faculties.

the woman disagrees.

To start with, she thinks that there's no need to hear it, and the school should put the information online so more people could see it.

secondly, the meeting will be held in the hall, but a lot of people won't be able to attend it.

Task 4

有人預(yù)期悲觀情況所以采取措施預(yù)防。教授以前和朋友去NY參加會(huì)議，結(jié)果托運(yùn)行李箱丟了，朋友預(yù)計(jì)了這種情況所以有額外的衣服和論文在隨身行李箱里面。教授沒做這樣的準(zhǔn)備，所以他丟了行李后就沒有備用的衣服和論文。

the professor and his friend flied to New York to attend a conference, but they lost their suitcases. His friend was a defensive pessimist and prepared for the worst, so he put the extra clothes and paper in his luggage. But the professor didn't do the same so he didn't have spare clothes or paper.

Task 5

同學(xué)想選課，因?yàn)檎n堂爆滿所以教授根據(jù)學(xué)生提交的 short story短篇故事 來選人。

方案一 她現(xiàn)在寫一篇故事 但是她現(xiàn)在在準(zhǔn)備考試，沒有足夠時(shí)間。

方案二 提交她很擅長(zhǎng)的詩歌，但是她擔(dān)心教授不接受

problem: the girl wants to take a writing class and is required to submit a short story so that the professor can determine if she is qualified to take the class. but the girl doesn't have one.

Solution 1 : she can write one now, but she also has to study for her exam and probably doesn't have enough time.

Solution 2: she wants to hand in a poem she has written, but she's afraid the professor may not accept it.

Task 6

在水里生存的昆蟲的 adaption適應(yīng)性 .第一種腿有力劃起水來快，第二種腿長(zhǎng)瘦，向四個(gè)方向分散其本身的體重，借助浮力直接飄在水上。

the professor talks about 2 adaptations that insects have in order to survive in the water.

the first is to have wide and strong legs.

example: giant water bugs have strong legs which can make fast strokes.

the second is to have thin and long legs to be able to diverse the weight and float on the water
