中國學生赴美簽證將延長至5年

奧巴馬宣布中國學生赴美簽證將延長至5年11月10日，美國總統(tǒng)奧巴馬11月10日在出席2014年亞太經(jīng)合組織工商領(lǐng)導(dǎo)人峰會時表示，中美已達成共識，中國學生赴美簽證有效期將延長至5年，商務(wù)簽證有效期將延長至10年。

U.S., China Agree on New Visa Policy to Spur Growth

The U.S. and Chinese government have agreed to extend visa validity to citizens of the other country, President Barack Obama announced Monday in Beijing. Obama outlined the new requirements on his first day in China at the CEO Summit of the Asia Pacific Economic Cooperation meeting.

Short-term business and tourist visas will be increased from one year to 10 years, and student and exchange visas will now be valid for five years, also up from one year.

The White House said the new rules “will improve trade, investment and business ties by facilitating travel and offering easier access to both economies.” The U.S. also seeks to make it easier for foreign students to study at U.S. universities and add American jobs by increasing the amount of Chinese tourists. According to the White House, 1.8 million Chinese tourists visited the U.S. in 2013, generating $21.1 billion to the U.S. economy.

The new visa agreement “a game-changer” in terms of the U.S.-China relationship, an administration official told reporters. Obama has emphasized his “pivot to Asia,” an effort to refocus on the region, but the effectiveness of this policy has been criticized as crises in many other parts of the world have commanded the president's attention.
