S3 Reading: The announcement is about start to next semester, students is going to pay the same amount of money when they go to concert, that means more discount providing.

Listening: The women disagree with this idea. First reason she gives is that it would not helpful for the financial problems since most people who go to the concert pay the regular price. For example, last time she went to the concert, only a few student there. The second reason is that most student especially who is majoring in art cannot afford the price of concert. It will be difficult for them since they need to listen to it in their major.

S4 Reading: Interest Boosting. Teacher sometimes use this to boost the interest of students in class by showing the material of the subject.

Listening: For example, the speaker's wife teaches students in high school, when she tried to showing something (I forgot the name), students do not seem to care about that. Then his wife use the strategy by bring the copy of the movie which related to the subject, because she thinks that students love that movie and the main actor, as a result, student really pay more attention on that.

S5 The women's problem is that she need to take one more history course to fulfill the requirement, and she also very interested in this course, but just a few student register this class so it will be cancelled.

Solutions: The first solution is she can chose another course, but none of other course is interested her, if she cannot take the course she like, she won't study well (detail, so important. The other solution is that she can do the independent study about this course, but it would have much more work than the regular class, such as writing three pages paper( maybe 30 pages, three pages doesn’t sounds a lot right? never mind

第二套

S3 Reading: 學(xué)校決定limit the number of books borrowed from library. 限制到10本，理由是學(xué)生一次借太多書看不過來。還有不按時還甚至丟書。

Listening: 女生feel it is terrible for two reasons.一是she have many lesson and have to research, so she need many books at a time.一次需要20本。二是she think school must trust its students that they can take good care of the book they borrowed 還有底氣地說I never lost or misplace any books.

S4 Reading: vertical migration 水中動物的一種生存方式。

Listening: 教授：squid晚上待在固定地方cause the darkness will protect them from the predator but when the sun sets they have to 轉(zhuǎn)移，不然會被捕殺。

S6 Lecture: early human how to keep fire burning. Two ways.one is find the fuel first such as tree woods. Second is social work such as cooperation. Because they have to take turns to look after the fire to keep it burning all the time.

S3 Reading: 哲學(xué)院要host breakfast for students every month and invite professors to talk. Listening: 女同學(xué)同意。因為他們都不了解老師，這么就給大家機會認(rèn)識faulty 然后知道選哪個老師。另一個原因是哲學(xué)院提供的早餐每個月都不一樣~女同學(xué)也非常滿意，因為dining hall的吃的太單一大家不愿意去，這樣一來可以吸引更多學(xué)生來參加。

S5 Problem: 有個男學(xué)生Sam負(fù)責(zé)在學(xué)校放電影，然后這星期他還請到了professor來介紹電影（在電影放映前）。但是professor臨時家里有急事就cancel了這個lecture.

Solutions: Sam想了兩種解決辦法，1. reschedule，但是怕好多學(xué)生臨時沒看到通知還是去了。2. 他自己準(zhǔn)備材料講，但會少Q(mào)&A環(huán)節(jié)，因為他沒辦法回答學(xué)生問題。

S3 Reading: the university is considering moving the student theater center from campus to the nearby downtown.1. downtown theater has a larger space，and it can contain more audiences.2. the new theater will have better technical facilities，so that students can get better light and sound while they are appreciating performances.

Listening: 男生反對此計劃。理由1. audiences in the downtown theater are mainly students. It is quite inconvenient for them to drive for 20 min to get there to see performances, so few of them would like to go to the new theater. 理由2. the facilities in school theater are quite basic and easy to operate. However, students are not professional and well-trained, and the facilities in downtown theater will be too complex for students to operate. So, students might end up with worse lights and sounds than what they have now. So, better facilities are not necessarily good as in the school theatre.

S5 Problem: 女生took 6 classes this semester and she was selected to the women’s basketball team.平時籃球訓(xùn)練占用了她太多的學(xué)習(xí)時間。

Solutions: 女生自己說出方案1: to quit the basketball team, since it takes too much time. 男生說她got in the team after several times of application，放棄了很shameful.男生說出方案2: to drop some classes which are not so important. 反正也不是required classes, 但女生說good scores in extra classes may make her competitive to attend a graduate school.

S6 Lecture: 2 stages of children's social development in playing. Stage 1: associative play: if some three to four years old children play together with same material, they think and behaviour in different ways. For example, while some 3-4 years children are playing blocks together, little Johnny may use blocks to build a car and little Mary may use blocks to build an airplane. Stage 2: cooperative play: if some four to six years old children play together with the same material，they start to cooperate. For example , while some 4-6 years children are playing blocks together，they may create a house together. They may discuss about how it should look like, how many rooms it should have and how the roof should look like.

Reading: 3 ways to make coal burning more environmentally friendly.

1. Coal burning can be more efficient by using new technology such as high pressure.

2. Coal washing can remove sulfide and other chemicals.

3. Carbon recapture and storage. Recycle CO2 and deposit them in the sea.

Listening: 反對：

1. Population will increase by 13% in next full years but the efficiency can only increase by 10% with the new technology. Demand of energy increase will compensate the saved amount of the increasing efficiency.

2. Coal washing transfer the pollution from the air to the ocean.

3. Carbon recapture will be very expense and risky. If the carbon leaks out, it will be very dangerous both for the environment and human being.

第二套

Reading: Asian carp, in the Greek Lakes, that has too much will damage the local environment. There are three measures to prevent ：

1. Build a wall;

2. Use electrical devices;

3. First, use poison kill all the fish, second, reintroduce the local species.

Listening: disagree

1. Factories near the lake, they use cargos and ships there. It will cost a lot. Ships upload on one side of the wall, and another ship reload at the other side.

2. Small fish still could swim through the device, they grow up and reproduce in lakes.

3. Drastic. No prediction, cannot ensure not pollute the lakes in the future.

第三套

Reading：The article introduced a kind of plant which called GM (Gene Modification) crop. It has three major benefits:

1. It is good for the environment because it has the resist-gene. Using GM crop can reduce the use of pesticide.

2. It can help poor farmers around the world. GM crop can also have good yield in dry season which will profit the farmer.

3. GM plant can add missing nutrients for people in specific area. For example people eating a lot rice lack of Vitamin A, so GM rice which had added Vitamin A in it can help people gain what they missed.

Listening：The lecture totally disagreed in those three aspects:

1. If the resist-gene is got by the wild crop, it will grow out of control which brings more damage to the environment.

2. Those GM crop cannot help farmers economically because they need to buy those GM seeds every year instead of using the seeds they got from the last season. It is more costly.

3. The Vitamin A added in the rice is not enough. The more efficient way to deal with this problem is encouraging those people eating more vegetable like sweet potato.

Reading: 連鎖超市和地區(qū)市場的利弊。閱讀觀點：

1. 本地食物更好吃有營養(yǎng)

2. 本地食物對環(huán)境好

3. 本地食物對當(dāng)?shù)亟?jīng)濟可以促進,外地企業(yè)不關(guān)心當(dāng)?shù)氐慕?jīng)濟，對當(dāng)?shù)匕l(fā)展沒有作用之意

Listening: 反對：

1. 因為農(nóng)業(yè)科技的發(fā)展外地和本地食物基本差不多了

2. 在最合適的地方種水果可以減少土地開墾，對環(huán)境有好處

3. 大公司發(fā)展經(jīng)濟.外地公司可以為（本地）提供稅收，增加收入的好處

第五套

Reading: 閱讀說在Rhone river發(fā)現(xiàn)了一個bust,說這個bust就是Caesar,是羅馬的一個leader.

1. 那個bust（a kind of sculpture) 是realism地形式表現(xiàn) 然后Caesar的時代也是realism的時代。

2. bust的hair的表現(xiàn) 和真實的Caesar一致 （跟money有關(guān)）

3. 因為是在river里發(fā)現(xiàn),以前人們想銷毀它,,有新的leader上任,留著它是不respect.

Listening: 反駁閱讀論點

1. Realism continues after Caesar died.

2. Only the style of hair matches, other features do not match at all.

3. There were others sculpture also found in that river, and they were right added that bust. And throwing it into river, just aiming to dispose the trash.

第六套

Reading: lionfish 從Indo 洋擴展到太平洋了，閱讀中有三種方法來解決：

1. 人工捕捉它們來protect coral reef 生物系統(tǒng);

2. 引入fish market，這樣可以減少對 local fish 的需要，讓他們能有時間 recover;

3. 人們可以把它們用于日常飲食，因為它們高蛋白，低脂肪。

Listening: 教授全部反對：

1. 人工捕捉無法區(qū)分lionfish 和其他魚，很多 rare 的魚也都在coral reef ，會牽連其他魚種；

2. 引進市場會導(dǎo)致有人人工養(yǎng)殖。 Lionfish 如果從 fish farm escape ，這就造成了更嚴(yán)重的 invasive 問題；

3. 有些lionfish 是有毒的，吃了以后會造成 vomiting numbness arching，我們無法檢驗每一條魚，所以不吃他們。
