綜合寫(xiě)作范文:
Thereading and listening are both talking about the reasons of formation ofwill-o'-the-wisp. The passage exhibits three reasons to explain thisphenomenon. Whereas, the professor totally refutes three theories presented inthe passage.
Firstly, the professor rebuts the reading’s idea that will-o'-the-wisp is caused byburning dead bodies which will be flammable at night. The professor claims thatalthough this kind of gas is flammable, it is only burned in one place. Thislight can move around, so it cannot be the will-o'-the-wisp.
Secondly, the professor contradicts reading’s statement that it is caused by electronicsparks from mineral like quartz. The professor argues that the mineral isburied underground which is covered by earth. Therefore, electronic sparkscannot pass through the covering.
At last, the passage states that it is the flaming fungusstick to some birds which lived in the frost where they have easy access tothese fungus. However, these flaming fungus are not sticky enough. When birdsare flying, the fungus will fall down which kill the chance to become will-o'-the-wisp.

Do you agree or disagree with the following statement?
Visiting museums is the best way to know a country. [重復(fù)2008.10.12 ML]
獨(dú)立寫(xiě)作范文:
With the rapid development of globalization, people are becoming incredibly fond of learning about other countries. Approaches to be acquainted with other countries vary from people to people. Someone might claim that museums are really appropriate places for the pubic to learn about a country because they collect various objects which can typically represent the country. Nonetheless, if we take a deeper consideration, it may not be difficult to come to the judgment that the statement is improper to some degree. My reasons are enumerated as follows.

Undoubtedly, paying a visit to the local museum is of great importance for us to be familiar a country. It is widely acknowledged that museums exhibit various relics artifacts which definitely can reveal a country’s customs and cultures. Those antiques are just like mirrors that reflect the country’s rise and decline. What is more, people can also have a taste of the unique culture and customs. From the vessels displayed in the museums, it is easy to imagine the scene of the previous times and to know how old people led lives.
However, hardly can museum be the best place to learn about a country. Frequently, objects stored in the museum are out of date so they cannot precisely reflect what a country is exactly like. But with the remarkable progress made by each country, a sea of new circumstances are springing up, which means the dramatic changes of a country. For example, we want to learn more about Japan, besides merely knowing it is an island in the Pacific. Because of Japanese history that I have learned about in the museum, its grimness and high-technology impressed me most. However, when I got a chance to travel to Japan, communicating with Japanese definitely changed my attitudes to Japan. People are so generous and hospitable that you never feel uncomfortable. Therefore we cannot judge a country just from the museum or tangible relics.
Going even further, various alternatives can be available for us to have an insight of a country thanks to the advanced science and technology. For example searching for information related to the country on the Internet is a better choice for us. Conveniently enough, Internet plays a significant role in searching information, surely, including one country’s enormous aspects, such as its current policies, economic statement, as well as people’s life conditions. Also, the insight and understanding we can acquire about a country from visiting the country in person cannot be denied. By chatting with native residents and living with them, we can have a first-hand information of the country, like their favorite local food, their authentic view about the government, and so on.
In conclusion, we may obtain useful information about a country from visiting a museum. Nevertheless, it is not the best idea for its historical exhibitions presented. Alternatively, several preferable ways for us to truly understand a country.

綜合寫(xiě)作= 2009.5.6 討論government should support ESA(美國(guó)EAS要不要保留?)
綜合寫(xiě)作范文:
Thereading and listening materials have a conflict of opinions about ESA. Thewriter believes that+ the governmentshould support this policy, providing three reasons which arecontradicted by the following lecture.
Firstly, the writer claims that it is more convenient for people living in the remotearea. while the speaker views this issue from an opposite angle. According tohim/her, People living 110km from the major airport are not in disadvantage.110km does not sound too bad because airports are still accessible by bus orcar within 2 hours. Secondly, the author states that It improves the rural economic development.. However, the speaker opposes the writer’s opinionby saying that ESA may not be a good way to spend money. The government shouldspend the money on transportation, education, public service etc, and helppeople move into the city, settle down and find jobs.
Thirdly, the passage argues that They use smallplanes, which will not give the government economic burden. By contrast, inaccordance with the speaker, the reading’s claim doesn’t hold water,Manufactures have been producing fewersmall planes. Government needs money to do repair and maintain.

2009.5.16ML Do you agree or disagree with the following statement?
All university students should take at least one course which teaches them about the culture of a country or by themselves.
獨(dú)立寫(xiě)作范文范文:
The knowledge and values shared by a society, the so-called culture brings many to believe that teaching university students, regardless of their majors, one course about the culture of a country should be made compulsory. Though it, to some degree, may cause demerits, the benefits coming along can be paramount in the long run.

Firstly, a better understanding about foreign culture provides students with more opportunities to enlarge their social circle. For one thing, an increasing number of people choose to study overseas, which means, for those who choose to stay within their own country, an interaction with foreign students is also unavoidable or even necessary. To provide such course within a mixed culture background is opportune then, for students now have more related information to form a conversation. For another, more common topics, such as foreign customs, cuisine and music will be generated during the chances of learning and discussion. My sister, a shy girl before, can be a compelling example in this point. Because of the same interest in foreign musical culture, she joined club that allowed her to meet a great number of like-minded friends. Gradually, she came out of her shell and almost was shaped into a more confident, outgoing personality. If she had not been interested in foreign culture, she would have never gained friendship.
Secondly, mastering exotic culture paves a smooth way to students’ future career. On the one hand, accompanying the globalization, more enterprises favor the candidate who not only takes a good command of specialized knowledge, but also possesses a global vision, for such person can deal with overseas cases successfully. People who have an intimate knowledge about foreign culture for instance, definitely have an advantage over others. On the other hand, for university students, establishing an overseas business is not a rare case. When catering foreign clients, being familiar with certain cultural can help avoid any form of embarrassments. In this case, such familiarity guarantees the future prosperity and successful expansion of a company.

Admittedly, people do challenge the necessity of acquiring foreign culture by listing some disadvantages. A university student, as they mention, should set a top priority for studying the professional knowledge. Not only does he/she have to spend much energy and time in the major courses, but also participates in related case competitions, which win them precious experience. Under this circumstance, learning foreign culture may get him/her distracted from basic academic field or even lay too more pressure on. However, by no means should we be too near-sighted. In the long run, the merits of having an insight of foreign culture will surface.
Obviously, the only possible disadvantages cannot be used as a reasonable excuse to prohibit university students from taking a course about foreign culture.
