Passage2南極對全球氣候的影響

第一段：南極洲寒冷危險，以前的南極洲是距離日常生活遙遠的地方。

第二段：21世紀，人們對南極洲的觀念改變。雖然位置依然遙遠，但是大家已經認識到南極洲及周圍的海域是地球生態(tài)系統的不可或缺的一部分。因為科學研究發(fā)現，南極洲對全球的氣候和海洋環(huán)流都有很大影響。

南極洲并非總是很冷，南極洲周圍環(huán)繞著南極繞極流(ACC)，在它的影響下，盛行的西風從西向東流動，關于重力風(katabatic wind)，制造風冷卻效果。

極端環(huán)境對全球的影響，海洋的溫度可以預測澳洲的降雨，通過更為準確的預測，昆士蘭北部的放牧人就可以避免在干旱的年份過度放牧，這樣就可以防止草場退化。

海洋表面溫度取決于深水溫度，空氣溫度和冰之間的相互作用。南極有一種磷蝦，是很多動物的食物，當海冰充裕，食物充裕，生長良好;海冰減少，磷蝦生長不好，很多動物就需要遷徙。

世界海洋洋流循環(huán)系統把水和溶解的礦物質，還有營養(yǎng)，從一個半球輸送到另一個半球，從海洋深處運送到海洋表面。ACC就是世界上最長最大的洋流，對全球的洋流都有重大影響。新鮮的水才能凍結成海冰，殘留的水變得咸度和密度都越來越高，冷水比熱水攜帶更多的氧氣，各大洋的活力應該歸功于南極。
